The Spell of Ravensong is a piece I painted for a Halloween art show in 2016. I wanted to create something elegant and stylized, soft and feminine, with a definite element of spooky. It felt very natural to take the subject matter in an art nouveau direction. Art Nouveau is one of my favorite art movements, and I did a lot of research and study on colors, poses, and elements of the time period. I used lots of rich, deep colors. My inspiration for the pallet was historically based, but also an "autumn in the moonlight" type feel. All the outlining was painted my hand with a liner brush.
