Saying goodbye to an old friend is so incredibly hard. In April of 2018 I said goodbye to my 14 year old greyhound, Arrow, after spending 11 years together. He was my friend, my companion, and a sweet and gentle soul. The hole he left behind was a large one. His last days with me were serene and pleasant. We laid outside in the grass, went to the park, and had lots of treats and goodies together. He loved to admire the big yellow hibiscus bush I planted in the backyard. He would push his nose right into the flowers. This act was just indicative of his sweet and gentle nature. This piece explores those last days, with my Arrow in my heart, full of grief and sadness, but also peace, love, and a sense of gratefulness that we got to spent so much time together.
